When Do I Get My Meps Results

Kenneth Oppel: Son of Heaven / Skyshatter

I liked his trilogy on bats, but these two novels form a thrilling and so amazing that I am making a new post on Kenneth Oppel.

With the same originality as the universe of Silverwing, he built a world close to ours and different from both, as they say in a Uchronie specialists.
But where there was sometimes a little difficult to be excited for bats, empathy and identification with work, full of humans.

The English speak of alternate history, a term more meaningful qu'Uchronie. Here we imagine that the principle had not been discovered and that the airships were refined and generalized as much as the airplanes today. It is the most visible but not the only difference between this technology and our universe. Differences in trade, transportation of people, the world economy, but also the laws and those who transgress, resulting logically.

same time we discover this world we embarked on a balloon and a multitude of adventures involving a mythical beast, half bird half wild cat, the hijackers, wreck adrift, storms, a mysterious island, it is full of references to Jules Verne, HG Wells even, or legends of our world as the Flying Dutchman ghost ship and her, but shipments of the great explorers centuries.

supposed to be a book for youth, the main hero of this diptych are teenagers, with realistic and well drawn characters, whose confrontations with adults remain plausible. A nice but not insipid romance between Kate and Matt adds suspense, thriller reinventing himself in often unexpected twists but also realistic.
A summit of the adventure story.
